“The Monster” is a song recorded by American rapper Eminem. The track co-written by himself in collaboration with American newcomers singers Bebe Rexha and Jon Bellion is confirmed as the fourth single taken from his eighth studio album “The Marshall Mathers LP 2“, released on digital retailers on November 5, 2013 via Aftermath, Shady, Interscope.
The song produced by Bryan Fryzel (aka Frequency) has the guest vocals of Barbadian pop star Rihanna and it was premiered on radio on Monday October 28th, one week before the album release. The single was released on iTunes on day after, on October 29th. This is the third time they collaborated, the first time was with the global hit single, “Love the Way You Lie“, included on Eminem’s album “Recovery“, released in 2010, and the second was in the track “Numb” included on Rihanna’s seventh studio album “Unapologetic“, released in 2012.
The track is a massive grower, the chorus is infectiously catchy and has all the numbers to become another global hit. “The Monster” is undoubtedly the true heir of “Love the Way You Lie“. They never disappoint. At their feet our majesties, King Eminem and Queen Rihanna.
The music video directed by Rich Lee was premiered on VEVO on Monday December 16. features references to other music videos that Eminem has released including “My Name Is” (1999), “Lose Yourself” (2002), “The Way I Am” (2000), and the 2001 Grammy Awards performance of “Stan” with Elton John.
